 | November Driftboat Trip |
Paul B., Billy T., Ron D., and Frank B. take the same 4 days of fishing with my husband every year...right before Thanksgiving. This is Paul B. with a nice Salmon River Steelhead caught in the lower section of the Salmon River today on
egg sacs and floats. There are more pictures in our photo gallery for you to see and some white water rapid action on the driftboat. Today Paul landed 2....a 12 lb. and an "unmentionable" as he said. I guessed a baby steelhead and he said, "yes". Billy got 3 steelhead.....a 4, 5, and 9-10 lb. All were very nice fish and they had a pretty good day.
Yesterday Ron D. got a nice steelhead on his own fly fishing equipment. Despite the high waters, John took them to some spots where he knew there would be fish. Ron was very happy with his catch. They have another day of fishing left so I'll report later.
On another note, guests staying at the 1880 House went out with "XYZ" guide....one that's not apart of our Endorsed Guide Program and they had a pretty good day today. They got a real nice steelhead in "XYZ" spot. I know exactly where they got it but don't want to put it on the www. You'll have to stop in the shop and pick my brain. You'll see their picture in the photo gallery as well. They were fly fishing.
The weather looks like it will be getting cold and snow is in the forecast but the thing about the forecast is it's unreliable. For instance....it said it was suppose to snow 70% chance today and I didn't see anything. So, ya can't really rely on the weather forecast. If you want up to the minute weather conditions, you can call me anytime. Also, viewing the LIVE Salmon River Web Cam is another option. Too late to sign up now as we're not taking any new members....fruit for thought for next year and remember this.....we give 10% off to our web cam members when they shop in our shop! So please factor that into the web cam fee.
Anyone coming up this weekend, I still have Thanksgiving weekend available in my 2 bedroom apartment. Please call me! I am also trying to get rid of my bags of ice so if you need some for your catch, come see me! It's the cheapest ICE in town!!!
If you don't see our shop lights on, come upstairs and get me. It's hard to be in the shop with the baby and I don't want to miss you. We live right above the shop....just go through the white door and give us a knock! Thanks!
Last but not least, the DSR reported about 15 or so steelhead being caught and other guides that I know of have been doing good to excellent while plugging on the river, casting egg sacs + fair to good and the fly fishing has been a bit tough. Best to be in the Lower or Upper Fly Sections if you want to be where the higher concentration of fish are. High water levels always sucks 'em up there! Good luck and be safe....hope you have a wading belt on and a wading staff? Also you really should be wearing spiked footwear such as Korkers or Cleats. It's a MUST after Nov. 1st!!!! For your safety. We have RENTALS here.....$7.00 with tax included.
NOW IS A GOOD TIME FOR SOME STEELHEAD FISHING AND DRIFTBOAT TRIPS..........EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT????? YOU BETCHA! WE HAVE GIFT CERTIFICATES AND 8 GUIDES READY AND WAITING TO TAKE YOU OUT FISHING. John Rucando will be available until Dec. 10th and then no more trips till spring! Heading south to Islamorada.
