Salmon River NY Fish Hatchery: Something to see!

Fly,Spin,Spey,CenterpinSalmon River NY Fish Hatchery
The Salmon River NY Fish Hatchery is located on County Route 22, one mile northeast of the Village of Altmar NY, Oswego County. The Hatchery is open to the public from March 15th to November 30th, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. Tours for organized groups may be arranged in advance by contacting the hatchery manager at 315-298-5051.  Currently there are many Washington strain steelhead with a mix of some Skamania steelhead and

brown trout at the hatchery.  Some have already left the hatchery and can be found downstream as far as the "Town Pool" which is right behind our fly & tackle shop.  Others still at the hatchery will be making their way downstream any time now and heading back out to Lake Ontario NY.  While heading downstream they will feed on a variety of baits so the visiting fishermen have a chance to catch some hungry steelhead and brown trout.  We highly recommend visiting the Salmon River NY Fish Hatchery and taking a tour to learn more about our fishery.  If you'd like to read more about it, please CLICK HERE.  When you get off the Pulaski Exit 36 you will take a right turn and follow route 13 out about 8 miles.  You will see signs to the Salmon River NY Fish Hatchery.  When you arrive be sure to take a walk down the path and take a look in the stream as well as the ladder.  CLICK HERE to see a picture of fish in the ladder.  It's incredible to see and you will get all pumped up to go fishing. If you want to learn how to catch our Lake Ontario NY salmonoids, please give us a call at Yankee Fly & Tackle Shop and we'll set you up with a professional full time licensed drift boat or bank guide to show you exactly what you need to know about fresh water fishing and how to land a trophy Steelhead, Brown Trout, King or Coho Salmon, Rainbow Trout, or even an Atlantic Salmon!  Contact:  Dawn Rucando at (315) 298-2466 shop, (315) 298-6253 home, or by email at Dawn@FishTheSalmonRiver.com
