 | Salmon River NY Fishing Report: 9-27-07 |
The Salmon River in Pulaski NY is NOT closed. Only the lower fly fishing only section in Altmar NY is and that will reopen October 15th. Please do not get worried. All the reports on the national news saying that the Salmon River is closed is a bunch of B.S. The fishing is great for our guide service and we've had a 100% success rate this season despite low water conditions. A lot of anglers have caught fish and you can
trust us when we say this because the proof is in our photo gallery....check all the pictures with dates. We have had a couple of days with rain and that has helped. A fair size of Coho Salmon shot up the river yesterday and today they continue to come in. The "motherload" that everyone seems to be waiting for has not happened yet and no one knows when it will happen except for the salmon. So, if you want to be here in Pulaski NY, great, come on up (or down). If you have to call and ask if it's "worth it to come"....please stay home. All the best action for fishing is in the lower river and that would be from Port Ontario at the Route 3 Bridge until the 81 Pool. As you know, the crowds will be where the best fishing action is. You can still catch fish in the mid-upper river however you will have to do a lot of walking. Our guide service is not cancelling any guided trips due to low water. We are still doing our trips so for anyone that has a trip booked with us, it's business as usual. Here is a video that I took on September 19th and it's for your viewing pleasure. Get the low down and honest no B.S. reports from us as we're guide owned and guide operated. We're a fly & tackle shop, not a gas station. Thanks for supporting our family owned business. CLICK HERE to see video. We're booking now for November Steelhead Guided Trips and Lodging. We do have some dates left with our guides for salmon fishing........we also have night time mouth of the river fishing from a drift boat or even a Lake Charter trip on Lake Ontario.......it's still good fishing out there with our one captain catching his limit every day!
