 Another banner day for our guide service with a limit of King Salmon, Coho Salmon, and a real nice stealhead trout. My husband, John Rucando was out with his clients Jim & Jeff from N.J. and they have been with him since 1991 and take the same dates every year. They had a great time and caught a bunch of fish. They were back home early with
plenty of time to shower at our lodge, drive around and see the sights, come back to the room and rest, relax, watch a little tv and catch a cat nap, and then go for dinner later. That's what's great about their trip with my husband every year, they get back early and can enjoy the rest of the day to do whatever it is they want. Hey, they're on vacation! So, yes, the fishing was outstanding for us and as for our shop customers, well, this one guy came in, asked Guide Mike what fly was working best and that he wanted to target steelhead so Guide Mike picked out a fly and told him where to fish for steelhead. You should see what he caught......the picture will be up tomorrow and that's why it's best to buy your flies from a fly shop and not a gas station. I'm off to bed now that it's 3:08 am. The fishing was pretty decent behind our shop today with anglers catching brown trout, king & coho salmon, and a couple of steelhead. Yes, I know people are snagging out there and it really bothers me. I do my best to try to educate people on how to fish and that the salmon "really do bite" but I can't change everyone. If you are disgusted with snaggers or unethical fishermen, please call the DEC and let them know. You can find their number online and I'm pretty sure there's an 800-tip number to call as well. At least everyone has one thing in common, they want to catch a fish.....just not everyone is doing it the same/legal way and I really can't change it.
