Yankee Fly Emails: Salmon River NY Ramblings

GeneralMessage: hey dawn its the woodward brothers you probably dont remember us we were up last year at the end of october. You downloaded a bunch of our photos of steel, browns and fresh kings. I just wanted to let you know that we read your reports daily to see how things are going out there. The reason we read your report and not others is because we know you tell the TRUTH and only the truth. Like you said it all comes down to your own fishing skills. We have made two suicide

trips this year alredy from NH, sorry we didnt get a chance to stop in and say hi but we were only up for a day at a time and with that little amount of time we just fished our but off. The river conditions were just as you stated in your reports the fishing was very tuff but worth it in two trip we only hooked four fish but we saw hundreds. My friend caught his very first steelhead which was awesome to see it was 30" and around ten pounds. He fished to that one fish for an hour before he got the fish to take his offering a size 14 red copper john. The fish was released alive and well to hopefully fight another day. We will be on october 28th through november 4th so we will have plent of time to come by and say hello and bring you some of that french liqour you like so much. Keep up the great website and awesome business and tell all the hate mail senders to pound off. You dont need to respond you have to much important stuff to do like run you business. good luck with quiting smoking. see you guys soon. Hope you have a good season.

thanks for all the great info,
the woodward brothers.

I remember you guys and thanks so much for the nice email and support!  Stop in and see me and we'll have a shot together.  You really need to find out what fly is crushing the steelhead as it was a banner day for some beauties today.  Only my husband, Guide Mike, and our other Guide John knows.  Dawn

Whats up dawn, well we had the best time ever again. The poles you sold us with reel combos were a dream..From the line to the polaroids we couldnt of asked for better items..Tuesday we hit around 15 fish and landed 6 but wed we hit the mother load and ran into around 80 hook ups between the 3 of us and landed around 40 monster salmon..The fight was unreal with the new poles and even my friend kyle had the best time ever and were already thinking about next year...The only problem we saw with the river is the people who leave TRASH all over the shore...Its a shame, such a beautiful river and great fishing and to see people treat it like that... Im sad to say that one day im sure that river will be shut down for fishing because of the trash people leave behind...how can you fish holding a coffee cup or a beer can.. thats just rude that these people do that to the land...People take to many things in life for granted... Im glad to see you put regulations on fishing behind your shop, it was prolly the cleanest part of the river...thanks again and see you soon....Todd Wickham

Hey Todd, thank you so much for bringing a Salmon River Virgin (SRV) along for the ride and for shopping at our store.  We really appreciate your continued and new business!  Glad you had a fantastic time and sorry that there's a lot of rift raff along our shorelines. You're right, how can anyone fish with a coffee cup or a beer can?  I believe once it's on the ground and your back is turned, it's litter.  It really is terrible how a lot of people just don't give a crap in this world.  Hopefully Pulaski will put their foot down on and start weeding out the rift raff like I'm trying to do.  We'll see you again next year or if you decide to make another one day run.  Our season will be extended due to lack of rain.
