 | Salmon River NY Fishing Report: 10-18-07 |
The fishing continues to be excellent despite low water levels. More and more steelhead are entering the river on a daily basis. Some really nice size ones too. Lodging guest, Gary Consorte from Long Island landed a gorgeous 13 lb. female out back behind our shop on a fly after I booted out 3 snaggers. He had the entire side of the river to himself in the afternoon. A reminder that my property is POSTED and the NO TRESPASSING rule is in effect. You must be a daily shop customer, lodging guest, or family member in order to fish my property. You must also have
permission from me and the only way to access my property is through the front door of my shop. The DEC is watching and we don't want any snaggers on or in site of our property. This goes for all the Ledge Lizzards out there (the ones who are sight snagging) and casting over the angler's lines that are fishing on my side. You better start fishing the right way because you are being watched. Consider it a warning. Other reports: just that the lower end of the river is where it's at and where it continues to be. More salmon are still coming in the Salmon River NY and the steelhead, I"m telling you........they're so chrome and so hungry, it's awesome. "The Mayor", one of our guides had a 17 pounder on this morning not far from our shop and lost it up close.....that's fishing! Other anglers had steelhead on all day long. Some anglers chose to keep their one per angler limit however I did see many anglers releasing their steelhead which is good for you. We're still booking guided streamside trips and our guide service is the only guide service with 100% success rate this 2007 season. While it's not great for other guides, it's a great year for us. See you in the shop for more "detailed" reports based on your fishing skill level of course.
