 | Catching Report: 11-26-07 Salmon River Pulaski NY |
The proof is in the pictures and if you take a moment to look in our photo gallery, please put it on slide show, sit back (at your work place or home) and drool. These pictures are from our top guides that are working everyday on and off the Salmon River in Pulaski NY. They are working rain or shine and in the most brutal conditions. They know every inch of the Salmon River and it's
Lake Ontario tributaries and are the best at what they do. I call them, "Full Timers" and they are always fishing. It's raining here in Pulaski NY and the river will swell a bit but not to worry, that will and always does, bring fresh chrome into our river system. This is by far the best steelhead season we can remember and it's no B.S. folks. Today a really nice brown trout was caught and released. We are doing all methods of fishing: fly fishing, spin fishing with float rods, centerpin fishing, and plug fishing. Plug fishing is the only method of fishing where the guide does all the work. Some guides do it while others don't. Some are good at it while others are the best at it. I know which guides are best at each method so let me book your trip for you. Are you coming from out-of-town and want to make the most of your trip? The best thing you can do is hire a guide. Which one? Well, it's a crap shoot folks.....unless however, you call me because I know who's great and who sucks. Yes, there are guides that I wouldn't want my dog guided by and that's no B.S. folks! Which by the way, now that I think of it and for any of you regular followers out there......if you see a guide with the first name that starts with the letter "L" and his last name starts with "G", please tell him that throwing his cigarette butts in the Salmon River NY is dispicable and disgusting, not to mention, littering. Not to worry folks, he's not apart of our Endorsed Guide Referral Program because our guides respect the Salmon River and it's tributaries, they don't pollute it with their cigarette butts. Okay, now on to the report...... Lower river=fresh uneducated chrome and not so much angling pressure, Middle river= mixed chrome & some steelhead that have been in the river for awhile, hooked a few times but still not so smart and some to moderate angling pressure. Upper river= most steelhead, both chrome and darkened up, most anglers and drift boat guides, and most idiots. So, it's up to you. To be honest, if you're willing and able to do some walking, then you'll be fine. Just don't wade out too far as you'll push the resting steelhead and brown trout out and into the current which will then either take your steelhead down or upstream away from you.....and that's not a good thing. Stop by our shop in the early morning or just after dark and find out a more detailed report based upon your fishing skill/level. Thank you and we'll be closing our shop soon to head south to the Florida Keys so be sure to get your gift certificates or great deals on closeouts. Don't forget about our 5 Women In Waders Calendars that are left! Sincerley your host, Dawn Rucando.
