Steelhead Fishing In New York: The best since the 80's

Fly,Spin,Spey,CenterpinEric Kloehn, Salmon River NY SteelheadFor all of you reading the fishing reports, it's true. The steelhead fishing on the Salmon River in Pulaski, New York has been absolutely phenomenal! I am always speaking with our guides and they keep telling me how it's like the 80's. One of our guides told me on Wednesday night that he and his clients boated 15 steelhead and hooked up 17 times. I asked him what his methods were and he said

that he combined both plugging and float fishing. Our other guide told me on the same night that he and his clients landed 11 and hooked up 15 and it was all with the centerpin set up.  They were experienced anglers.  Today that same guide told me that yesterday, on March 13th, they had an outstanding day with 27 steelhead and it was a combo day with plugging and float fishing.  So, there you have it.  It is true and the fishing is excellent.  How long will it last?  That's to be seen.  The best fishing is during the weekdays when the weekenders are not around.  Take advantage of it now and if you want to hire a guide, please call me at 305-664-9988.  All I need is 24 hrs. to make something happen.  Learn from the best guides on the Salmon River NY!!!  Also, why are we having such a phenomenal steelhead season?  It's due to the fact that their spawning beds were not washed away with high (flood) levels in the river in years past. This is one of the reasons for such an exceptional return.  To learn more about our fishery, give us a call.
