 | High River Levels, Great For Driftboat Guides |
This happens every spring and it's to be expected.....high river levels on the Salmon River in Pulaski, New York. It's okay though because you can hire a drift boat guide to take you to those high water spots! It's good to keep these full time guides working and some of them are worth every penny spent. Recently we've been getting a lot of calls asking us when the river level will drop and while we don't have a crystal ball, we can't give you and "exact" date. What we can tell you is this: click on the links on our homepage that we have conveniently put there for you. All three links are very important. The water line link says what the hydroelectric plant will release from our resivoir, the weather link will forecast our local weather for 3 to 10 days, and the Pineville Gauge will tell you exactly what the river level is mid river. What's happening
downstream from the Pineville Bridge is another story...one that you will learn in time. Let us teach you what you need to know so you can make your own judgment call and determine whether or not it's "worth it" for you to make the trip. Soon we will post a story on this and make it much easier for you to understand. In the meantime, if you do want to come fishing this weekend we have some drift boat guides available. Thanks for supporting us and them...they work their butts off! Feel free to call me on my cell if you're serious about booking a trip...315-489-7532. Last minute calls are welcome. Last but not least, there are a shit load of New York steelhead in the Salmon River and it really has been the best NY steelhead season since the late 80's. All the tributaries have fish in them and if you're willing to walk, you will find fish.
Thought: If you smoke, please don't flick your cigarette butt in the Salmon River (or on the ground or out your car, etc) .....it's f-n' disgusting and it's littering. If you see someone do this, don't just stand there like a spineless jellyfish, SAY SOMETHING!!!! for crying out loud.....thanks. Respect the river and you will be rewarded. Over and out, Dawn Rucando
