And catch a really nice Skamania Steelhead Trout while spending some quality time with one another. For those of you who do not know what a Skamania Steelhead is, well, it's a different strain of steelhead trout that the Salmon River Fish Hatchery has raised and the way you can identify them from other steelhead trout is simple. You will
notice that the hatchery clips it's left pectorial fin as well as it's adipose fin which is that thumb-looking-like fin on top of the fish near it's tail. They can handle warmer water temperatures and are in our river all year long, coming and going. It's very possible to catch a 10-15 pound Skamania Steelhead in our Salmon River during the months of May, June, July, and August. They will always be holding in the deeper pools when our river levels are low during the summer months. Every time our hydroelectric plant releases water from our resivoir, you can be sure that new fish enter the Salmon River from Lake Ontario and migrate upstream. Our pool behind our shop known as the "Town Pool" is reserved for our shop customers and lodging guests and is posted "private". It always holds fish and is a nice cool, deep pool....great for our guests and customers who want to wet a line and catch a nice fish just waiting...to be caught!
If you want to bond with your father or child, give us a call and we can set you up with one of our full time fishing guides who will teach you how to fish for what's running in our river.
