 | What's in the Salmon River during the summer months? |
Fish like this! Seriously folks, you can catch Skamania Steelhead trout like this now and all summer long. Average size NY Skamaina trout run 6-8 pounds and 10-16 pounders are not uncommon at all. This one was taken out back behind our fly & tackle shop in the month of August. People who really want to fish, come in the summer months before our
crowds come for our annual salmon run. What else can you catch? Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and even a Chinook (King) Salmon too! The Salmon River is famous for it's fall salmon run which starts every Labor Day weekend however there are always salmon in the river prior. Our absolute peak season for Chinook & Coho Salmon is from September 15 until October 15. Keep in mind, that's when it's crowded and public fishing areas/holes are shoulder to shoulder doing what we call, "Combat Fishing". Call us and tell us what you want to do and we'll help you plan your trip. In the meantime, forget about the gas prices and come up to Pulaski, NY and spend some quiet time on the Salmon River and do some scouting. You'll be glad you did!
Email: Dawn@FishTheSalmonRiver.com if you'd like her or her husband, John Rucando to personally call you back and give you the "low down" on when it would be best for you to come. You can always call the Pulaski NY Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce at 315-298-2213.
