Salmon River Fishing Conditions Report: 3-10-09

Fly,Spin,Spey,CenterpinSalmon River NY downtown PulaskiThis picture was taken around 9:30 am today and clearly shows that the Salmon River NY in downtown Pulaski has swelled.  What does this mean to you as an angler coming to our town to fish?  Well, it means that you'll have to have a Plan B.  How can you make what might be a unsuccessful fishing trip into a successful fishing trip?  In my opinion

Salmon River NY Pulaski Fishing Conditionsand from my experience, I would say that during the unpredictable months of March & April, it would be strongly advised to make reservations with an experienced full time (and local) drift boat or bank guide.  I say this because I have experienced first hand many anglers who travel from hours away who end up disappointed with the current conditions.  Since the internet is a powerful tool, and anglers rely hevily on current and up-to-the-minute reports, fishing in the two months of March & April would be best to be with a guide.  Also we all know that we have no control over Mother Nature and her change of mind.  She's a woman and so am I.  I know what changes mean.  Do you?  Does your guide?  Since public access points are dwindling and we have no control over Mother Nature, and traveling and time are important factors to us as a society, it makes sense to invest in a experienced guide.  Keep in mind, while there are several guides to choose from in our area, you really need to do your research or if you do not have time, call me and I'll make your arrangements.  If you prefer to learn on your own, that's okay too.  I have met several anglers that have said they spent years coming to Pulaski NY to learn on their own and they are the type of people that prefer to do so.  I have no problem with this.  Some people find self gratification in learning on their own while others prefer to be taught and learn in a shorter period of time.  The bottom line is this:  If time equals money to you, let me set you up with a guide.  Life's a gamble and when the odds are in the Salmon River's favor, it's best to go with a guide.
