6 year old Kid Catches Fish on The Salmon River!

GeneralMatty, age 6, holding a Brown Trout caught on the Salmon River in Pulaski New YorkHow do you know when your kid is old enough to go fishing?  Simple.  When they can sit still for five straight minutes without figgiting!  This is what we tell parents who want to take their kid fishing and allow them to experience the thrill of battling fish bigger than your pet goldfish.  It's a great time and the Salmon River in Pulaski New York is the perfect place to take your kid fishing via a drift boat.  Here is what Matty's dad had to say in an email to me: Hi Dawn, We had such a great time in Pulaski. It was a father-son outing to spend some time together and we enjoyed every minute. We came up late on Saturday, March 28, 2009 and hit the river early on Sunday morning. We caught our first "float-fishing" New York brown trout right in the

Matthew's Steelhead Trout he caught on the Salmon River from a drift boat, March 30, 2009"Town Pool" across the street from the FishOn! Motel where we were staying. We had never float fished before so it was pretty exciting to have luck on our own! There was however a lot of rain on Sunday so we were a little worried about our drift boat trip on Monday morning. We met our guide at 6:00 am to head to the river. There was a lot of run off and debris in the water from the heavy rain but we still managed to catch another brown and a nice steelhead! Our drift boat guide was an awesome guide and he was really attentive to us. It was really cold out but Matthew and I endured (did I mention that my son, Matthew is only 6!!!!). After the trip Matthew said it was the greatest weekend of his life and wanted to come back for the fall salmon run! We will definately be back for more- thanks to everyone in Pulaski, New York for making our trip so memorable and fun!
See you soon!
