I get asked this question all the time as I"m sure other sports shops and Salmon River Guide Services do too. Honestly, it's totally up to you and when you can get the time off to come salmon fishing. Our FALL Salmon Run officially begins Labor Day weekend which is this September 4,5,6,and 7. So, keep in mind, it's the last summer "Hoorahhhh" before the kids have to go back to school. It's a great time of year with the weather still warm and the smell of salmon is in the air. You should know that there are always salmon in the Salmon River before Labor Day weekend, like in this picture with Harry Winand who caught Chinook "King" Salmon last summer before September. So, to simplify things, our PEAK salmon run is September thru the first part of November. Our ABSOLUTE PEAK salmon run is
typically the second week of September thru the second week of October. Keep in mind, this is when the MOST people are in town and some anglers do not like this. There are many variables and factors and it's really up to you when you can come salmon fishing. For me, I'd LOVE to have the opportunity to catch a HUGE Chinook "King" Salmon on any type of fishing reel (fly, spin, centerpin) WITHOUT the crowds. Mon-Thrs. = less people Fri, Sat, and Sundays = more people.
