  Seeing your child's face light up like this is like winning the lottery. It's the Salmon Lottery and it's swimming upstream as I type this story. Right now there's salmon entering the Salmon River in Pulaski New York. Did you know that salmon are nocturnal? They prefer to run the river at night when they feel less vulnerable. Are you ready to catch salmon? This weekend is the official kick off to SALMON SEASON 2009 and the river level will be increased to 750 cfs. This surge/increase in water will bring salmon out of the estuary and the mouth of Lake Ontario New York and into the Salmon River upstream where they will journey to the Salmon River NY Fish Hatchery to spawn and eventually die. Basically, this weekend marks the
beginning of the Chinook "King" Salmon migration, Labor Day Weekend September 4,5,6,7. The water level will go back down and depending on Mother Nature, rain, air temperature, and wind, it will keep getting better each and every day that goes by.
