When the steelhead you catch is almost as big as you, well, heck, that's a "good one!" Winter steelhead fishing on the Salmon River in Pulaski NY can be down right brutal and cold. It's not for pansies or other "p" words that aren't so nice. It's for extreme anglers that will do anything to catch a NY Steelhead like this and they will travel far to
fish the world famous Salmon River. It's a great time to come during the winter months if you can stand the cold because the only other anglers (if you see anyone that is) will have the same thing in common with you and they won't be the run of the mill Salmon Angler like we get in the fall months (Sept & Oct) The anglers you'll see in the winter months are hardcore for sure and if you ask me, there's something wrong with them mentally. Any angler that's willing to chance frostbite for the "chance" or "opportunity" to catch anything much less a NY Steelhead like this, is well, in my opinion, F-n Crazy!
And if there's anyone that knows me, then those "Crazy Steelheaders" are A-Okay in my book! Fish on gentlemen and keep sending your BIG Steelhead pictures. Happy Holidays, Dawn A. Rucando

Dawn, It was good talking with you the other night at the restaurant. I just got back to Canada when my buddy wanted to go back down. I just got back to Canada last night and now I have to pack for Arizona. We didn't do as good this week in terms of numbers but Bob did catch a really nice fish below the bridge at XYZ spot.
