 | Winter Rainbow Trout: 2-3-10 |
Not only does the Salmon River in Oswego County New York produce king salmon and steelhead trout, it also produces some gorgeous rainbow trout like in this picture. Diehard steelheader, Ron G. from downstate New York loves to fish the Salmon River in the
winter months because of the light fishing pressure. Basically there's not many people who can tolerate cold temperatures and cold fingers. Winter steelhead fishing in the months of December, January, and February are for anglers who absolutely love it and crave it. They look normal to the eye but deep down inside they have a screw missing. It's fine by me because they deserve the recognition and bragging rights because this aint the Florida Keys folks! Catching a beautiful rainbow trout on the Salmon River while targeting steelhead trout is a bonus that will warm you up until the next strike. FACT: One can catch a rainbow trout up to 16 pounds on the Salmon River and this one pictured here is considered a "baby" by our guide service standards.
