 | Tough Access to the Steelhead: 2-10-11 Snow Storm |
We received about two feet of snow sometime in the wee hours when I was nice and toasty in my comfortable bed. I woke up and looked out my door and saw a winter wonderland. I could hear the village of Pulaski NY DPW crew coming
with their heavy equipment and beep beep beep sounds. Time to make a cup of coffee and get my long johns on! It took me about two hours to shovel the back deck and the area you see behind the shop where it leads to the Salmon River New York. I like to keep that clear so friends can fish my hole! The Salmon River NY was all slushed up and all I could think of was the NY Steelhead. They must be laying low and bunkered down in a nice deep pool....probably right there in front of me under the ice. I sure wouldn't want to be out fishing the Salmon River NY today as my fingertips are burning since it's in the 20's. I still have to shovel off my truck and make my rounds to see if anyone needs some help so I'll post this story and you can click this link to see more pictures that I took (before & after) shoveling that I posted on my face book page. Be sure to take a look at the live web cam I have up and let me know your thoughts. I know there's a lot of anglers out there that want to stay connected with the Salmon River and Pulaski New York so I hope this satisfies you.
With all this snow we're getting, this is a typical indication that we will have lots of snow melt for the spring season. Now, if it rains, you're screwed because if you didn't make reservations with a drift boat guide that can handle high river levels (anything 2000 cfs and over), you will be very disappointed. Our guides can handle this flow and much more so be sure to book with someone that can. Give us a shout if you want to make a reservation for March & April. Our guide service has a Plan A, B, & C (if needed!).
