 | Salmon River NY Fishing Report: 2-28-11 |
A cold rainy day didn't stop the Salmon River NY Winter Steelhead action. It was dang great! Off on winter break from school, father, Andrew, decided to take his boys steelhead fishing for a couple of days. The first day was "Fish On!, Fish Off!", hands the color of
their orange winter hats, and bellies full of orange raviolis for lunch, not to mention: orange egg sacks. The biggest New York steelhead caught today was 29 inches and 14 pounds. While out-of-staters measure in inches, we locals measure in pounds. This SRNY steelhead here is what we locals would call "average" and 12 year old Henry's prize catch of the day was double the size. Tomorrow is another day and another adventure and my congratulations go out to all three for hanging in there and dealing with the cold drizzle of rain, then snow, then rain again while taking short warm up breaks to the truck! You go guys and way to fight those steelhead!!!
