Dawn, I was out of town for two days. When I returned today I found out that we finished egg take Thursday afternoon, April 7, 2011. We collected 2.2 million Chambers Creek winter run steelhead eggs [goal 2.0 million] and
125,000 Skamania summer run steelhead eggs [goal 120,000]. Lots of fish still in the ladder and in Beaverdam Brook for visitors to see plus the usual displays etc in the hatchery.

If you're coming to Pulaski New York for a fishing vacation, you will want to take some time out to take a tour of the Salmon River New York Fish Hatchery. Here you will learn all about it's purpose and also be able to see many BIG fish including: Winter Steelhead, Skamania Steelhead (Summer Run), Brown Trout, and some Rainbow Trout in the mix. They're really big fish and not like the ones where you're from. It's true, we do measure our fish in pounds, not inches!!! The hatchery is about 10 miles from the Pulaski New York Exit 36. If you go past the hatchery about 5 more miles you'll pass the resivoirs and take a right onto "Falls Rd." where you will see the famous, Salmon River NY Falls"......it's really cool and defintiely worth the extra 5 mile trip! OUR PRIME CATCHING SEASON for BIG NEW YORK STEELHEAD IS NOW!!!!
