I knew as soon as I saw this picture that it was an Atlantic Salmon and not a brown trout as the PA angler who caught it thought it was. This is a sought after fish and to catch one on the Salmon River NY is something to be able to
brag about. They're starting to come into the Salmon River NY and last year it was a really good season for them. We're anticipating another and even better season for 2011. Beautiful Atlantic. I know of three that were caught yesterday upriver, all between 10 to 12 lbs. hatches are unbelievable on the river the past few days. I actually thought that last years flood probably would hurt the hatches, but apparently it didn't. Maybe it made them better by cleaning out the substrate. I think we are going to see another good run of Atlantic salmon this summer. time will tell. There have been numerous catches on the lake this spring. I just saw a Atlantic caught that was 19.5 lbs! Don't worry about that because we live it and guide it and can teach you how to be successful.
