Paul guided with Tony Gulisano (315) 489-6115 on May 10, 2011 and caught a variety of species including: a resident rainbow trout, a brown trout, and a steelhead. He fished three methods: fly, plug, and centerpin float. His friend he was going to include on this fun adventure hymned and hawed and ended up not coming and it turned out to be a blessing because Paul got all the action! Here's a link to
Paul's blog and you can read what he had to say about his adventure with Tony. Paul even got to witness a Caddis hatch that most never get so see. There were caddis flies all over the place and they even covered Tony's drift boat.
In ending, the fishing continues to be great and it's worth it to come up. It's worth it to hire our guide service because we live it on a daily basis and you don't. Unless you're that good and know our area like the back of your hand, it's fine.....come on up anyways and enjoy our WORLD CLASS FISHERY and send us your pictures! What's in the river now??? Atlantic Salmon, Skamania Steelhead, Drop Back Steelhead (Washinton/Chambers Creek Strain), Brown Trout, and Rainbow Trout. All methods of angling are perfectly fine and the water temperature is between 55 and 58 degrees. Optimal water temperature for New York Steelhead is 55 degrees.
Here's some Atlantic Salmon that were caught just recently (May 9 & 13th) and people pay BIG BUCKS to fish for these in Canada. We have them right in our backyard and we're blessed!

Anglers DREAM of catching Atlantic Salmon like this and we have them in our backyard! Pulaski New York which is in Oswego County New York has trophy fish and is definitely a WORLD CLASS fishery! Come experience it with our full time local guide service. We have specials going on all the time: $399 based on 2 people with 2 FREE nights of lodging and 1 day of guiding......fly fishing, spin, spey, centerpin, you name it!!!
(315) 489-6115 to book.

The PA angler who caught this didn't realize what a trophy he had. Instead he thought it was a brown trout. It's an Atlantic Salmon and they are in our river system now. Some people think they don't come in until July or August but that isn't true. They come in now and especially when the river swells and with all the rain we've been having latley, the conditions are perfect!
There's a lot going on in the Month of May and most local guides are switching from steelhead season on the Salmon River to walleye and brown trout season along the shorelines of Lake Ontario New York or Oswego harbor....even some other places that I can't and won't mention.
Some guides are preparing to leave for Alaska to fish until September because they can't make a fair living around here because the demand is not here. The fish are, but the people are not. They're busy in their own County or State fishing or doing with their families. That's okay because we locals get to experience the BEST fishing without the pressure even though, we'd prefer to share it with you.
If you do want to experience what we live and do best, give us a shout.....(315) 489-6115 to reserve.
REPORTS (Our FaceBook Page)....please keep in mind, I do not post EVERY picture on our FaceBook page and we are unable to post EVERY time someone catches something as we have our daily lives to follow.
IE: last Sat. & Sun I witnessed a few locals hammering the spring steelhead one right after the other and did not take a picture because I had laundry to fold and chores to take care of....you see? Based upon our pictures, reports, stories, and experience, you'll have to understand that we have other things going on as well. There
are steelhead in our Salmon River NY 365 days of the year along with other species. We are a WORLD CLASS TROPHY FISHERY. We do not post EVERYTHING on the internet for EVERYONE to see and we do not report specific going-ons to strangers over the phone. You MUST be a regular shop, lodging, or guiding customer to call for a phone report, otherwise, enjoy reading my stories and reports and come on up and fish!
